A site that should be straightforward to use.
We want A Book's Life to work for as many people as possible, across different devices and different ways of browsing the web.
Clear before clever.
We aim to make the public A Book's Life website perceivable, understandable and usable with a keyboard, screen magnification and common assistive technologies. Our design target is the WCAG 2.2 AA standard where reasonably practicable.
Practical accessibility choices.
- Logical page headings and meaningful section structure.
- Text that can be enlarged without hiding the main content.
- Readable colour contrast and uncluttered page layouts.
- Links and buttons with descriptive wording.
- Keyboard-accessible navigation and visible focus treatment.
- Alternative text for images that carry useful meaning.
- Labels and instructions where information is requested from visitors.
Some third-party content is outside our direct control.
External services, embedded content and browser or device settings may affect accessibility differently. Where we control the page, we aim to keep the essential information available in text and avoid making an interaction depend on a single visual cue.
Please tell us.
If something on the site is difficult to access or understand, tell us which page you were using, what you were trying to do and, if useful, the browser or assistive technology involved.
